Ducks love the water! Tours run rain or shine. The vehicles are equipped with canopies for inclement weather and umbrellas are located on the back deck of each vessel if needed.
Do I need to make a reservation?
Reservations are strongly recommended! During peak season, tour times often sell out 2-3 days in advance. Book your tour in advance by contacting our office or using our online ticketing system.
Please note that leaving a message with our answering service does not constitute a reservation.
How many boats do you have?
We have eight vehicles in our fleet!
If you want to ride with another party on the same vehicle you must let us know at the time of booking so our staff can accommodate your needs. If you do not let us know that you would like to ride with another party until the time of check-in there is no guarantee that we can get your party on the same vehicle.
Are pets allowed?
We love our furry friends as much as you do, but only service animals with documentation are permitted on the tour.
Why do I have to pay for my child if they sit on my lap?
The United States Coast Guard requires us to count every person on board. So whether you are 10 days old or 110 years old, you are required to have a ticket.
What should I wear?
The vehicles are open air so please dress appropriately for the weather on the day of the tour.
Can I bring a stroller?
Strollers are not allowed on board, but we can store them at our retail location while you are on the tour. Just Ducky Tours is not responsible for lost, stolen or damaged items.
What is that thing?
That "thing" is a DUKW! It's an amphibious truck built by General Motors Corporation during WWII for transporting goods and soldiers over land and water. D stands for 1942 (the first year they were built), U is for utility, K designates front wheel drive, and W means there two rear-driving axles. There you go – clear as mud!
I've lived in Pittsburgh my whole life. Why do I need to take a tour?
It's not just a tour, but rather a unique experience that you'll never forget. Just Ducky Tours is a great way to add some laughter to your day because everyone needs a little quacking in their life. Besides, you might even look at your hometown in a whole new light. Seriously, take a ride!
Are the "DUKWs" wheelchair accessible?
Yes. Most vehicles can accommodate 1 manual wheelchair at a time. If you need any extra assistance boarding the vehicle, we are at your service. We just ask that you please notify us at least 48 hours in advance that assistance is needed. We cannot accommodate motorized wheelchairs.
Will I get wet?
The tour does splash down into one of the beautiful three rivers but you won’t get soaked. You may however, get a light spray going into the river depending on the direction and speed of the wind, and where you are seated.
Do I have to quack?
Don't you mean, "Do I get to quack?" Of course you will be quacking! That's one of the best parts. People quack at us, and we quack at them.
Are there life jackets on the boats?
Yes. We have 64 life jackets on every boat (which only holds 30 passengers!) We have 32 adult life jackets (for persons weighing more than 90 pounds), 30 child life jackets (for those that weigh less than 90 pounds) and 2 infant life jackets on each boat. In the unlikely event of an emergency, you will be instructed to don a life jacket. There are instructions on how to don a life jacket on the racks above the seats, or on either side of the back deck. In addition, the Captain and Deckhand will explain and demonstrate how to don a life jacket before each and every tour. Though in 22 years of service we have never had to use them (knock-on-wood.)
Is the tour always the same?
On every tour, we strive to show you the best that downtown has to offer. However, the tour route may vary from time to time due to city events and construction. Each guide also brings their own personality to the tour, so you never know what to expect. Everyone on the Just Ducky team goes through rigorous training so we can assure you that every tour is top-notch and fun.
