America's bird zoo, the National Aviary, is home to more than 800 birds representing 200 species, many of them endangered in the wild. The National Aviary's large walk-through indoor exhibits allow for close-up interactions between visitors and free-flying birds. Daily programs offer many opportunities to hand-feed and meet spec- ies rarely found in zoos. Visitors can watch flamingos

frolic, witness massive owls spread their wings, offer nectar treats to a flock of rainbow lorikeets, and talk with a pair of colorful toucans. Come and see the Aviary's colony of penguins dive, swim and play in their outdoor open-air exhibit, Penguin Point!
